Silkie |
If you have a dog or cat, you know what I mean. They do not
lie down; they "flop" down. They can sit just fine. But when they lie
down, they go from upright to lying on their sides in one flopping motion. They
just - flop.

I used to worry that they would hurt their sides but that
never seems to happen.
They seem quite content doing this, so I guess I should stop
worrying and accept this little quirk they both have/had.
Earlier cats in my life actually sort of folded up and
stretched out or lay prone, all done in a graceful, fluid, dignified motion.
Maybe
it's the size of the latest kitties.
Tigger was a big guy, but he was an
indoor/outdoor cat and did get lots of exercise. He was big but muscular.
Silkie, however, is a girl - a sweet girl. But she is a BIG girl. Before Frank
passed away on Feb. 1st, he used to call her his Sumo wrestler, and I often
call her my Amazon princess. She is big, and she has a bit of a round belly. So
maybe size has something to do with it.
Anyhow, now that I've seen her do this also, I realize that
Tigger was not all that unusual. Guess I'll just chalk it up to their special personalities.
