Prayer to Win a Prize

After I finished my self-published Busy Person’s Prayer Book a few years ago, I stopped writing the little prayers because I felt I had written one for any of life’s issues that I ran into in my daily life.

However, my recent financial troubles have nagged at me and I keep trying various ways to raise revenue.

One of those ways isn’t a “way,” but rather a form of entertainment. Every Friday, I take $12 or $14  and play Bingo with a friend/neighbor. It gives me the only hour of the week when I am not actively thinking about what I can do to help my situation.

Also, many years ago, I entered a lot of sweepstakes. I even wrote my own how-to pamphlet on how to raise your chances of winning. Back then, most of us had to enter by snail mail, and I actually won lots of stuff - beach towels, little counter-high fridge, radios, lots of “stuff.” About two months ago, I realize that these days, a site like

SweepstakesToday.com lists all the current sweeps open and I’m already paying for the internet, so why not enter those instead of wasting time on games. At least there is always the chance of winning something I need.

Anyhow, tonight, I finally polished the words for a prayer to win a prize...I know I should hold it for the next version of my book, but shoot, that could be a long time coming. So, here it is - but you must realize the reason I wrote it. 

The way I figure it, God has given us lots of resources. Free prizes in sweeps are one great resource and they only take time and patience. Bingo and lotteries, if played responsibly and with moderation and planning, are another resource. But even then, I want the Lord to know that I will appreciate anything he sends to me this way, and that I will need his help in handling the blessing wisely, even if it’s just a box of Mrs. Fields mini-cookies (won them early in June).

To Win a Prize

I’d really like to win this prize

But someone else might need it, too

If you should bless me with this gift

For its wise use, I’ll come to you.

By the way, I’m almost ready with a 99-cent downloadable version of the book. Can’t wait to see how it’s received.

  

Testing New Free Prayer Graphics - Help in Paying Debts

I'm testing my new graphic for the prayers in my self-published Busy Person's Prayer Book. For a while, I was posting these, via this blog and then FB, every Sunday. I decided this would be an easier format for folks to see and therefore get more benefit from them. Hope this comes through all right.   

Free Prayer Graphics - For a Job

Back on August 11, 2013, I began posting almost every Sunday with a free prayer from my self-published Busy Person’s Prayer Book. Sales have not increased. I have decided to forget trying to market the paperback book. Instead, I will slowly convert all the prayers into graphics and post them.

Yes, I know they will be copied and freely distributed. But my purpose for the book was to share these with everyone. I won’t make money this way, but the Lord will provide in other ways, I am sure.

And, some folks might still decide to go buy the paperback at Lulu, or go to my Etsy shop to download the digital file.  

Free Prayer Sunday - Inspirational Words

At first, I wrote this for help in my free lance writing.  Then I said this prayer at times when I needed to find words of comfort to console someone.  A few times, I used it when I just needed the right words to use to explain something to someone.  I use it more and more often as time goes on, sometimes before a difficult phone call.

Free Prayer Sunday - To Wake at a Special Time

I used to brag about my “internal clock” when I wakened without an alarm most of my life.  However, I find it very reassuring to have backup, and my Angel seems to be the perfect ally.  Whenever I wake at a time I did not pray for, I’ve found there was a reason.  When my Angel awakens me earlier, I needed the extra time; when later, I needed the extra rest.

Free Prayer Sunday - To End Procrastination

I never had a big problem with procrastination until I stopped working “outside.” When I began working from home, or helped with care giving duties for a family friend, my extra-income projects always seemed to get pushed aside. When that round of care giving ended, a new one began. Meanwhile, I kept putting aside this task and that one, until procrastination was part of life. This prayer helps me focus, to ask for the help I need. I might just need to keep repeating this one until I get the upright freezer defrosted - how I hate that task...
