Money-Related Prayers

With the passing of my nephew back on Feb. 1st, finances have been frighteningly tight. Over the years, I have two favorite prayers, from my Busy Person's Prayer Book, that I tend to rely on. In fact, I end up saying these over and over, off and on, throughout the day, when and if I think about needing to do so.

I'll share here the reasons I wrote them originally, and share the prayers, as well. Maybe they'll help one of you to deal with money worries, too. Sometimes, the only thing we can do is pray - and hope - and have faith!

One troubled day a few years ago, I realized that, although I didn’t have a great cash-flow, I did have other assets at hand, ones that I was not using to their utmost, and this prayer came to me.  Each of us has many resources that we do not recognize or that we put off using.  This prayer will help us focus, especially if said daily.

Wise Use of Resources
You’ve given me many resources to use
Like the manna from days gone by.
Open my eyes to the choices I have
And all the methods that I can try.

This next prayer again has me asking that my eyes be open to solutions. Sometimes we can blind ourselves to the answers to problems simply because the problems overwhelm us for a while.

When I realized that it would take a long while to get out of debt, I also realized that God has ways I’m not even aware of.  When I am too worried, I do not see the path He has laid out for me, so this prayer helps me to focus and keep my eyes open.

For Help in Paying Debts
Father, you’re the one who knows
The answer to financial woes
Open my eyes so I may see the way
To funds for those who I must pay.

Please do not pass these around without giving credit to the author (me) and where it was published - a line like this will do:   by Evelyn Mayfield, in the Busy Person's Prayer Book. The book is available for download for less than $4.
