Strange Assortment of Projects Today

Most interesting/terrifying of today’s projects was finally being allowed to remove the dressing over the basal cell carcinoma stitches today and shower. They make you wait 48 hours but I waited a day longer. The fun part of this is reaching behind your right shoulder with the left arm that just underwent a lymph biopsy and nearby lumpectomy two weeks prior. Once that maneuver was accomplished, pulling it off was challenging. I’m always afraid I will open things up but this went well.

I know I am not the only one to relish that feeling of the first water gently rolling over a place where a dressing once lay. You do not ever want to get out of that shower. All went well.

Next was doing the first draft of the monthly newsletter. That’s pretty much done. Will check again tonight and take one proofing copy to my guy tomorrow, and the other to the Office on Wednesday morning.

From there I decided I’d best use up some chicken that was in the fridge from one food pantry on Wednesday. I inherited a really large fully cooked rotisserie (baked, I think) chicken. When I got it home that day, I immediately sliced it top to bottom, in half, and froze one half. I’ve been really enjoying using the other half for a few days, every which way. I de-boned it last night and today decided to make a quickie poor-man’s chicken soup. Diced the chicken. Tossed 2 cans of broth into the old potato pot, added a can of cut string beans, the chicken, 1/2 cup barley, one small onion diced, pinches of poultry seasoning, parsley and black pepper, and some fresh cilantro (also from the food pantry). Had no celery on hand, but did have 3 small steamed cauliflower florets I decided to toss in. Will let that simmer for a few hours and pack in containers.

That cilantro was beginning to go, so I took almost 3/4 of it, cut it with my kitchen shears, and packed into 1/4 cup containers and froze it.

With the “soup” taking care of itself, I grabbed the printed 2018 calendar bookmarks and ran them through the laminator. When I finish this, I’ll cut them, punch holes, and add a ribbon piece. I already marked the gift bags with initials and will begin filling them with what little I have this year for my fun Santa drops in the morning.

I had even managed a very short walk to our mail room this morning to pick up several days’ mail. Felt good. I should do that every day.

So far, so good. Hope to be finished tasks before 4 and just relax after that. Slow and easy seems to be getting things done just fine...
Later...
