Update on Earlier Prayer Requests for Neighbor

Back at the end of March, I asked for prayers for a neighbor. I’ve known this couple for a few years. He was always sturdy, busy, active and healthy. Suddenly they discovered a brain tumor and he suffered several mini-strokes a week later.

For months, they worked it out. They go away for the summer, and they did that again this summer. During that time, he received therapy for the stroke-related problems, and he received 7 or 8 massive radiation treatments for the tumor. For a few weeks, he could barely speak.

While they were gone, someone broke into their home and stole their large living room TV and some rolled coin. Thankfully, no malicious damage was done to their home.

Now they are back here once more. They have both lost a lot of weight from all the trauma and the caregiving. But he is upright, his left arm is slowly regaining some strength. He can help carry light loads but he can no longer do all the maintenance around their mobile home that he was used to doing. Still, he is coherent, getting around, and better than I ever expected him to be.

They have a long way to go. More treatments. More therapy. More caregiving. But they are better than some I’ve seen who go through this.

Thank you, all of you, for your prayers, and thank you to those who I know will keep them on a prayer list.

Sweet Lord Jesus, thank you so much for your help with this couple. Thank you for helping them come this far, for giving them the strength and fortitude to withstand all the troubles along the way. And bless all those who pray for others even in the midst of their own troubles.
