Weather Here and There

Weather patterns are changing. Younger folks do not really notice it as much as do those of us who are, um, shall we say, more “mature”?

I’ve been in the Vegas area for 23 years. It was always hot in the summer. Triple digits for a few weeks was expected. But this year, and the past few years, the summers have definitely grown hotter. Weather stats bear this out. Each weather report shows us boldly, and is pointed out by the meteorologist, how we have broken this record or that.

Winters are becoming more brutal in areas that have long been used to brutal winters.

And hurricanes are doing more damage, far more damage, than in the past. Yes, we are now able to predict them more accurately, but not, apparently, their effect or totality.

For those who deny global warming or climate change and the effects, I hope seriously that by the time you have the lifespan and experience to recognize it, it is not too late to make changes.

Meanwhile, prayers are in my heart for those at risk and those suffering in the current Hurricane Harvey aftermath.
