First of all, I could not get the phone/tv/internet account closed or
reduced. I tried to use the excuse that
it was in my nephew’s name and he died on Feb 1 and I just wanted to close that
one and open a less expensive account in my own name. Didn’t work. But, after
getting a supervisor, I did get them to change the arrangements and push back
the due date until the end of the month and also reduce the amount of the
installment payments on the past due amount. This is a lot more workable.
Next, I
could not cut off the TV and go to just a free local-station setup with a converter
box. At least, I can’t just yet. Turns out we had a contract that runs another
4 months. If I cut off earlier, they add a lot of fees, etc. So, I’ll just
watch and as soon as the promo discounts stop, I’ll immediately cut the
TV and that will save a lot. Basically, I have to keep things as they are for a
few months.
Now, all of
this did reduce what I would have had to pay by close to $100 - that helps.
It still
didn’t tell me how I would pay the rest of my bills this month.
Then, about
an hour after I went through the call with the phone/tv/internet people, a neighbor emailed me and asked me to begin
word processing, editing and proofreading for him, at his place, part-time.
That is manna from heaven. We talked and I’m great with it. We get going on
Monday morning and see how it goes. So, I might be all right. I haven’t put in
even 4 hours a day in a very long time, so I might be a little tuckered in the
beginning. But I have nobody to answer to or feed (except the cat) or do any
care giving for these days - I can just come home and flop and rest, if need
be.
Once again,
thank you ALL for your prayers, each and every one of you.
Father, thank
you for helping me get through this. Forgive me for any moments of doubt. And especially forgive me for whining and complaining. You
always come through for me. Please bless my friends abundantly for their
prayers and help.
