By doing
this, I can remind myself that everyone we have contact with, each and every
day, is affected by our lives and the way we live them.
Oh, I don't kid myself
into thinking I'm all that great at being good. But I can definitely improve in
at least a zillion small ways.
A friend
and I were talking just a day or so ago about how Christ never criticized a
person's personality or their way of speaking. I cannot tell you how many times
I have commented to friends and loved ones about how I hate it when this person
says this, or that person says that. I complain about the bad language I hear
around me.
Jesus gave
me the best example ever just by living the way he did. Nowhere in the Bible
does it say that he criticized the twelve who followed him. And I am very sure
that hanging out with a bunch of fishermen meant Jesus heard some fairly salty
words along the way.
And he
never said anything directly about this one being greedy or that one eating too
much or another one butting in on conversations.
Sweet Lord Jesus, help me each and every day this Lenten season to see something in the way you lived your life on earth, something I can use to guide me in my own life.
