Tonight, though, is a sort of comedy of errors story.
I make and sell my Cross-in-my-Pocket items in my shop. I was thrilled late last night to see an order that would have brought me a few badly needed dollars, one for 22 of my crosses. I had these particular colors already made. However, when I checked PayPal, the funds weren't there. Then I received a note from the shopper who explained she had accidentally hit the wrong button and the sale was held, which is how it is done if the shopper wishes to pay in a different way.
I couldn't decide whether to cancel the order and re-list them, or to try to accept a check. This shopper needs them by the 26th. Waiting for a check wouldn't work with the timing. That's when I noticed her comment that, instead of a group of 4 colors, she'd prefer two particular colors.
Not a problem. Now I could safely cancel the order, explain what I was doing to my customer, make her preferred colors, and post it this weekend. She can pay with PayPal and they can be on their way and received in time.
The point of this story is that I keep these pocket-crosses and my plastic canvas satin ribbon styles, both priced extremely low. I make nothing on them but making them gives me so much pleasure. I rarely have money to donate to church or religious causes. But these crosses are my personal way of "spreading the word." The small amount I charge pays for the yarn or ribbon, a little card or verse which accompanies them, the zippered plastic bags that hold each one, the Etsy listing and their fee.
But here is the wonderful part. I get more pleasure out of making and sharing these than I do with anything else I do with my crafts. How great is that?
Father, thank you for helping me to find a way to help this woman, so she will have what she desires, and has it in time. Thank you, too, for the skills you have led me to gain, so that I can do this small thing to spread your word.
