Hand Crafting by Hand

I have some slipper issues to muddle through. I usually make one particular style, photo here, that I've been making since 1976. I only crochet. My mom used to make some knitted ones that were very short and cute and had a pull tie on them. She has been gone since '94. I do not knit.

I have begun to think about finding a pattern that would be similar to hers. My slippers are my love. I found that pattern in a leaflet/booklet. I have gifted many, many people with them, and I have sold quite a few, as well. I wear mine winter or summer. But sometimes, in the summer, I would love a pair of the skimmer type that my mom made.

The good thing is that today we are blessed with marvelous search engines and marvelous free pattern directories, so the search will be fun and easy, when I am ready to dive into it.

I love our modern technology and all the things it helps us to do. But I also love doing things by hand, like our crafts and my crochet. I realize that there are looms and devices that enable people to knit, crochet, and more, in a faster, more efficient, and even more perfect way.

But, gee, then I would miss out on all the fun of ripping out a few rows because I forgot to put 9 DC's at the point of a shawl instead of 5 - it wouldn't be any fun at all if I couldn't make a mistake or two and have the fun of fixing it.

So, modern technology aside, I march onward with my basic crocheting skills, using the old fashioned, from scratch, and by hand, methods, and loving every minute of it.
