A friend wrote to me in response to an update I sent to friends about an elderly household member’s suffering and illness. This friend encouraged me to “keep on trusting.” I replied, “Trust is good - Trust is God.” I wrote that for myself, on the spur of the moment, in that reply. But I sense a deeper truth in it and I am soothed by it.
This household member is suffering beyond what most of us could endure. Not because of the type of illness, but because of all the changes within the past three weeks. Three hospitals and four rehab changes, just in 21 days. That is a lot to deal with, let alone deal with the medical issues, too. I have prayed that the Lord either end her suffering or heal her quickly. Yet, as we all know, not my will, but his, need be done.
And so, when that email came in tonight, and I replied, I realize the truth in trusting in God and what it means.
Father, I do trust in you even though I am worried, scared, and sorrowful over this; please continue to bless me with faith, and continue to work on a solution for Jane.

You will be in my prayers. It is always hard when someone we care about is going through something horrible and there is nothing we can do but pray.
Trust in God is a good motto.
Many blessings,
Shelly
