I’ll be 70 next year (sounds cooler than saying I just turned 69), and for many, many years, I was great at multi-tasking and problem solving, the person everyone went to if they wanted something to get done. I juggled a million things at one time, and with ease.
Nowadays, it seems that I get frazzled easily when I have several things on my plate at once. I worry about how I’ll get it all done in time. I worry about how I’ll get it done right. I drop things and I get angry at myself.
I shouldn’t worry, though. Even though I get frazzled, I still manage to get it done. I’m still a good multi-tasker, but I’m not great anymore because I get stressed out. This is yet another area where a little prayer should go a long way.
The trick is to figure out when to pray. If I wait too long, if I am too frazzled (sorry, can’t think of another word at this moment), I forget to pray in time to ease my tension. So, I think I just found my own solution. I need to pray as soon as I realize I have more than one item on my plate.
Dear God, please help me to sense the best moment for a prayer to you to help me deal with more than one project or obligation at a time, that I may handle the tasks you place in my path with dignity, peace, and grace.
