Crafting for the needy has always been a part of a handcrafter’s life. These days, I belong to a Yahoo group of crocheters and knitters. Right now, I’ve finished my “swaps” for the month and I’m working on a charity baby drive for our group. I’ve begun hats for preemies, and will move on to maybe booties and other things. It’s a great feeling knowing these items will warm a little head or pair of hands or tootsies.
A month ago, I finished several 12” squares for afghans for a children’s hospital for our group.
I remember over 15 years ago, my mother worked with a few ladies in her neighborhood who made scarves and hats for the homeless every year.
A quick search on the internet shows many places that can use our help. Sometimes, often, actually, these items are worth far more than money to these people.
Dear Lord, thank you for letting me see the needs that I can easily fill; please continue to bless me in this way.
