Often I plan to take a moment to pray for someone. Time gets away from me. Life gets in the way. When it’s too late to pray for that person, that’s when I remember my plans. Still, with God, I wonder if there is such a thing as “too late.” He who created time must have the ability to work within and around time.
So, I find myself often praying, “Dear God, I forgot to pray that he gets that job and now the interview is over,” or, “Father, I know she left late for that bus but I forgot to pray she made it to the stop in time,” and “Lord, please, although it might be too late, I pray that the right doctor looked at those x-rays and knows what to do.”
I figure if I can postdate a check, there’s no reason I cannot postdate a prayer. God can do anything. And, even if my words are a little late, it still makes me feel better to take the time for that belated prayer.
Father, thank you for all the prayers you have answered, even the ones that were late; thank you for looking into my heart and not into my timing.
