Storing Craft Supplies

I guess we’d all love to have those big ol’ rubber or vinyl totes to use to stash our craft supplies. Or, maybe some built-in closets and shelves, installed by a professional. These often cost more than we can afford, especially if we get all that we need. Even small containers can cost a lot when we need a dozen or so at a time.

Lately, I’ve been recycling everything I can. I’ve used egg cartons for small supplies. I recycle my well-used plastic refrigerator storage containers. Many times, they are too “used” for appearances at the table or in the fridge, but they are still just fine for storing supplies. Jars, glass or plastic, are another favorite of mine. Their screw-on lids ensure that I won’t lose whatever I toss in them, plus I can easily see what’s inside.

Tissue boxes are one of my favorites. I make diagonal cuts from center opening to each corner of the box, then fold down the flaps, and staple, glue or fasten some other way. Sometimes I leave them as is, and push scraps in them to save for use later. Often I use them for my balls of yarn so that the ball does not go rolling all over the floor. Plastic zippered bags are good, also.

For finished projects, I confess I’m a cardboard carton junkie or a plastic grocery bag fool.
I realize none of this is earth-shaking, or even new, perhaps.

At worst, I always feel better knowing I am not the only one to do certain things, and I thought you might enjoy that feeling, too. At best, maybe there is one idea in here that will be new to you.
