Why Should God Listen to my Prayers?

What makes me so arrogant that I assume God will pay attention to my prayers? I know it’s not because I’m a saintly person. I’m far from that. It’s not because my worries and troubles are worse than anyone else’s - I know mine are nowhere near as troubling as those of others. It’s not because he has nothing better to do. It would be silly to believe that.

Mostly, it’s because he has promised to listen to me, to us. He has promised over and over. He’s done that in the Bible, in the Old Testament and in the New Testament. Because I believe in God, it follows that I believe he does not lie, so his promises must be good ones. He must follow-through.

I believe, also, that he will not give me more than I can handle. This, too, he has promised. In fact, he promises to help me, and you, a lot. Time and again, he has said it and men have recorded it. So, when it comes down to the bottom line, I believe God will listen to my prayers just because he said so!

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for being there, always!
