Crafters always have lots of leftover scraps of yarn, thread, fabric, and ribbon. Those tissue boxes, whether the rectangular size or the square boutique style, are great for stashing these little pieces. Be sure to use the type with the plastic around the opening. That way, all those teensy bits will not fall out.
You can also find a diagram on my website (http://www.evelynmayfield.com/FPHintsTips.html) for cutting and stapling the boxes into nice containers. I use them for stashing materials (hooks, ball of yarn, pattern) for small projects, or for stacking small finished projects. They are also good for holding quite a few small balls of thread or yarn, and keeping them in one place. If there are kids around, or older people with thin skin, you might want to cover the staples with strips of self-adhesive felt.
Some of the boxes these days are just too pretty to throw away. I also use them as little wastebaskets in “common cold” season, and in the car. It’s so easy to stuff used tissues through the plastic around the opening and then toss out the whole thing when full, confident that nothing will fall out.
