Removing the Lemongrass in the Morning, Fast

Ok, when I was pouring water onto the lemongrass plants tonight, trying to get the ground wet enough so it would be easy to work with in the morning, I saw a poor bee struggling to get away - he had been on the ground and I almost drowned him.
Now, I have nothing against him. But I don’t want him on my lot. I searched online and discovered that the lemongrass will actually draw bees in many cases.

In the morning, I’m yanking them.

The thing is, they’ve never “taken.” I planted them but they kept looking so dead and pale. I feel so much better about this now. Obviously the good Lord, knowing my inner fear of bees (which has calmed down quite a bit in the past year) kept me from unknowingly constructing a bee-country on my front lot. THAT, my friends, was a close call.

The upside of this is that the project got parts of me moving in ways I haven’t been doing. Plus, it got me 6 holes in which I will find something else to plant (safe for the cat, of course). I will take my time to decide on what to put there. Plus, I’ve been quick-composting in a container, hoping to enrich that dirt. So, when I figure out what I want to put there next, it will be ready.

Oh, and I had just finished, tonight, cutting 6 gallon milk jugs. I took off the tops and the bottom and ended up with a rounded-edge square ring about 3-4 inches high which I had planned to put around them tomorrow so I could contain the water and soil in the beginning. Might as well post these pics to show you what I mean...

Top and bottom cut off gallon water jug
3-4 inch high ring for water/soil "well" around plants...
At least the project did get me to thinking about that bare front lot.
