It Was a Strangely Productive Day

Usually, after I’ve delivered the monthly newsletter on a Saturday and Sunday morning, I am wiped out and enjoy relaxing for those two days. Today, I did and I didn’t.

I finished delivering by 7:30 and took a shower. I had breakfast. I did a few things online,

Then I got a phone call from a fellow in here who I use for handyman work. He was coming over to deal with a noise issue I was having with one of the bathroom toilets. He had only recently installed a new unit inside the one tank. For the past week or two, at odd times, the toilet would make a high pitched noise - then, by the time I got there to check it out, it stopped. Most of the time this was in the middle of the night.

When he got here, late morning, it was a bad flapper. This one was too small, apparently, and wouldn’t seal properly. He went for a new one.

While here, I had him look at the other bathroom toilet. That one hisses at me 50% of the time I use it. Then, a week or two ago, it began hissing on its own. I had always noticed that it was “off-kilter” when I looked at the tank. Both units were new 4 years ago when Frank used some of his disability income to replace them for the household.

At the time this back unit was put in, Frank was having trouble with his sight on one side of his body and the friend who was helping him was having leg issues with the other side of his body. Between them, they got it in, but a little “off.”

My friend yanked it back up, put a thicker seal on it (there is rug on that floor), etc., and now that is fixed, too.

I figured, hey, I’m on a roll, so I had him tighten a bath towel rack that has been loose for the 17 years we’ve been in here. None of us seemed to be able to get that one nice and tight.

Anyhow, most of the rest of the day was off and on in the various rooms, discussing the various projects.

I did make time to rinse and trim the pound of strawberries I had in the fridge. I also made 3 days’ worth of coffee. I got a deal on a like-new coffee maker for $5 when a friend moved a month or so ago. I only drink a cup a day and hated using the electricity for that. For 4 years, I’ve been making my cup each day by pouring boiling water into a manual coffee maker that sits atop my cup. I was really getting tired of that. So, says me, why not just use the electric coffeemaker and set it for 3 servings at a time. I cool it, then pour it into 3 peanut butter jars and plop them in the fridge door. Just heat one up each morning. So happy.

Anyhow, both Silkie and I are tired but satisfied. I did my deliveries, had some repairs done, did some kitchen stuff, and hey, I’m ready to stretch this old bod out in bed.

Hugs and pleasant dreams to all.
Rolling along...
