Out of Turmoil, Joy

Most of you already know I posted in Facebook this morning around 9-ish that my car wouldn’t start. I asked for prayers. I immediately called the Park office and cancelled our Friday morning charity crafter meeting. I also called the one gal who drives in from a different Park and happily caught her before she got on her way. Then I called my guy.

We had it narrowed down to one of three things - battery, starter (or solenoid) or alternator. Of those three, I really was hoping for the battery (even though I didn’t have the funds) as the least of those three evils.

However, I was very very sure that I had only just replaced that a year or so ago. Out here in the severe desert heat, even a so-called five-year battery rarely lasts longer than two years.

We got the car started and I drove over to the shop.

Bottom line? It was the battery. And I am apparently losing all conception of time now that I am in my, um, “late” seventies - upon checking (both his records and mine) the battery was replaced Feb. 3 of 2014! It is very rare here for a battery to last almost 4 years! In fact, it was replaced 2 days after my “nephew,” Frank, died, and my first time meeting my mechanic. Frank had dealt with him before that.

Happy to say car is happy. I am happy in that prayers (thank you, my friends!) were answered and the car is running and arrangements made, funds-wise.

In fact, part way through the day, an old friend was passing through town and we were able to meet for a (her words - lol) “hug fest.” I finally got to meet her honey. It’s been over 15 years.

Things could have been so much worse. If I had been across town when I came out of a store or some place, and the car wouldn’t start, I would have been out of range for my current free tow service.

Thank you, my friends.

Sweet Lord Jesus, thank you so much, yet again, for hearing the prayers of people praying for others, for having my back, for being there for me...please bless these good folks abundantly!
