Music on my PC

For the past week, I’ve been enjoying some old CDs I had around here, playing them on my PC while I check emails, etc.

After a while, I ran out of CDs and as much as I love Patsy Cline, I need a break from Walking After Midnight, too.

A friend mentioned Pandora and I began to explore that. Suddenly, I remembered a radio station I always loved, 20 years ago, when I was still in the South Bay in CA, near LA - KRTH. They always had great oldies. I did a search, and began streaming the music. It didn’t take me long to realize that “my” view of “oldies” was older than their current view of “oldies.” Two decades had passed.

I began checking out the local stations. Right now I am streaming some country radio.

This is really fun. I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner than this.

Well, I guess I do know. Until my PC crashed early this year, the old one didn’t have much RAM and it also didn’t have great speakers. This refurbished one has W7 on it, more RAM, and I got reasonably decent speakers with it. And until I disconnected my contract TV last Monday, I always had the old analog TV on when I was back here at the PC. The contract service used to display the Caller ID when the phone rang so I didn't have to sprint the 50 feet to the front of the mobile home to see who was calling. I have a converter box for the living room TV, but for now, I really do not need to do anything about the bedroom set. It has a built-in VCR and I have been enjoying lots of old tapes. Funny how a disadvantage is only a matter of the way we view things.

What a difference. What fun.

Are you able to watch TV shows on your computer? You should be able to get ABC, NBC and CBS, I think. Just go to their websites. You can't see the shows on the day they air but afterward you should be able to.

Thanks for caring and for the suggestion. It would be too hard for me to do that. The computer is in the back bedroom, a desktop model (I can't seem to get the hang of a laptop), and I have to sit on a rolling office chair - please don't worry. I really am fine the way things are right now. The outside antenna will bring in ABC, NBC, and CBS. And a dear friend's DH is taping NCIS (all 3) and a few of my faves in the meantime - aren't people great? Both my old analog TVs have built-in VCRs, so everything is fine on that score...honest. Hugs and prayers, my friend
