Crocheting, the Great De-Stressor

In the midst of my grief over losing my beloved "nephew" on Saturday morning, I have to be eternally grateful that I have one truly great de-stressor to fall back on - crocheting.

Additionally, it is even better for me because I also am heavily into charity crafting. When you add the soothing action of running a hook through yarn loops, over and over, almost like a hymn, charity crafting adds the warm fuzzy feeling of knowing you are helping someone else at the same time. Great stuff!

Today, I finished a scarf for the homeless when I had to sit myself down and shut my brain off for a while. My mind has been spinning since Frank's passing.

I am sure anyone who knits, or quilts, also knows that joy and comfort. Anything that requires a certain pattern or rhythm, using the hands and a needle, a crochet hook, or knitting needles, helps calm a troubled mind and helps it heal.

Yes, I am truly grateful I have this to fall back on.
It is much cheaper, and safer, and saner, than liquor, drugs or any other popular way to relieve stress.
