Need Methods for Fixing Cut/Split in Plastic Canvas

Anybody know some way to fix a wrong cut or split in plastic canvas when working with it, other than a hot glue gun? I just cannot use a hot glue gun. I was wondering of some other kind of glue or some household product might "seal" the split...
