Yard Sale Ups and Downs

Well, I had truly hoped to have a few days to gather stuff for the weekend park-wide yard sale, but I ended up with only one day - today. Still, maybe the good Lord knew that one day was my stamina limit. I was at it all day. Lifting boxes, going through boxes, creating new boxes to take outside to the driveway - you know the drill.

I managed to fill 10 cartons for outside for tomorrow. My middle-aged nephew just finished getting the folding tables out of the shed and taking them around to the driveway for the morning. This will be a tough sale because I don't think I've got even one item which I can sell for more than $5 or $10.

After dinner tonight, which is a very easy pasta and ready-made sauce, and after the dishes, I'll jump into the shower and then do a fast laundry. While that is working, I'll blow up 3 balloons. Our park is huge (over 400 homes) and to make the sellers stand out when folks drive through here, we put 3 balloons outside our homes.

I'll begin at 5:30 a.m. by grabbing a stabilizing bite to eat. By then, at 6, it will be daylight and I'll take the car from the driveway and park it a few homes away in Visitor Parking for the day. I'll walk back with my quad cane and begin opening tables and setting up the other support-system. I only have 2 long tables and 2 card tables which I put against the side of the house on the drive. I have 3-2x4's stacked on the side of my driveway. I'll put down 3 cinder blocks and lay the 2x4's on top of the blocks. That raises the boards a little off the ground. I can then place cartons along those on the other side of my driveway.

The hardest part will be putting stuff out of the boxes onto the tables. I didn't have time to put "like" things into related boxes. Everything is a mish-mosh. Craft items are in boxes with software and other stuff. All of this is the down side of a yard sale.

The up side is that once it is set up, I am literally forced to relax for the next two days between 8 and 4. I've got to pick a project or two from my crochet stash and get it ready to take out with me.

I began writing this earlier in the afternoon. It's now almost 8 p.m. and my body is starting to object to all that I made it do today. I know I couldn't have done it without His help.

Lord Jesus, thank you for the motivation and stamina which I sorely needed today. More than anything else, I pray that you send folks to our sale who need what we have, a mutual benefit for all of us.

Sure hope the yard sale went well. Sounds like it was a lot of hard work. I know the sales I've ever had, my daughters did most the work, because it is work! ♥♥♥
