Small Favors but No Big Deal

I have been really bad about posting to my blog lately. I was thinking today that I have drawn away from how I used to post early on, when I first began my blog, over 3 years ago. Back then, I ended each day with a little post, reflecting on that day and what I might have learned.

In that mood, today I have learned something interesting. I enjoyed helping a few folks on my life's path. It was not earth-moving help. In each case, it was just a small favor.

One person happened to mention they meant to get eggs and bacon yesterday but forgot. At that point it was almost 10 a.m. and he was a bit shaky from not having eaten and was considering going out to the store. I came across to my home, grabbed two eggs and took them over. No big deal. To me, it was nothing. He was very grateful

Another person needed a few copies run off and for him, getting to a copy center is a major effort. He has no car and he has difficulty walking. I ran off the copies on my home printer. Again, no big deal, for me. But he, too, was grateful.

In another case, a friend faces major tests this week. She has fallen a lot recently. Because of that, she is afraid to run to the store for fear she will fall while there. Her DH won't leave her home alone. I had already planned to run out early in the morning before the TV provider's technician comes tomorrow (between 8 and Noon) so I asked her for a list of whatever I could pick up for her. Once more, no big deal. But for her, a relief.

These are just a few things that I ran into today. In each case, what I did was something that in no way stressed me out. And in now way did I have to go out of my way to help. I'm kinda careful about volunteering to help these days - I try to pick deeds that are stress-free on my end.

Bottom line? I feel pretty good about my day. No, I did not have money to go play at a local casino to try to hit a jackpot. But in the end, I feel very good about being able to help in a small way.

Father, plain and simple, thank you! No big deal.

The LORD's work is easy...his burdens are easy, because He goes before us and makes a way. He made a way for you to be His hands and feet, without causing you stress. Praise His Name! PSALMS 107:8 ♥♥♥
