Prayers Needed for a Friend

A friend requested prayers for folks she knows. The husband is a diabetic with an infection following a surgical procedure and he is in ICU. If you can spare a quick prayer for this man and his wife, we'd all appreciate it.

Isn't it wonderful how we can so easily pray for others? In today's world the request is passed along faster than on an eagle's wings. It is one thing I love about the internet. It offsets the downside of cyberspace.

As for the prayers I requested yesterday, my Tigger ate today. He didn't eat a whole lot but it sure did my heart good to see him eat about 1/3 a can of catfood, a few bites of shredded turkey breast (oven baked deli meat), and quite a few laps at the small amount of canned milk he gets each day. I usually use one of those teensy medicine cups that come with cough syrup to measure. That way, I don't over-do it and when he is feeling his best, it satisfies him just fine. Thank you all, those who commented publicly and those who emailed privately. Isn't amazing how quickly prayers work?

Of course, there are times when we do not see our prayers answered. Or, at least we do not see them answered in the way we have asked that they be answered.

I have often mentioned a fave quote by Jimmy Carter - I'll do it again because I love it -

“God always answers prayers. Sometimes it’s ‘yes.’ Sometimes the answer is ‘no.’ Sometimes it’s ‘you gotta be kidding.’”—Jimmy Carter, former U.S. President

Father, I can relate to Mr. Carter's words and the sense of humor that goes with it. I honestly believe we get that sense of humor from you, our Creator. In this case, however, it also helps point out that as our Father, you are training us in the wisdom of not giving our children everything they ask for simply because they ask for it. I trust you, therefore, to always give me what I need, not what I want.
