It's Not Too Early to Start Thinking of the Homeless

Even though the country is in the throes of a heat wave, it's not too early to think of making hats, gloves and scarves for the homeless, for the coming winter.

A reader left some comments on my pattern for the scarf I designed. She has me thinking it's the right time to post a reminder that I've posted about the patterns our little charity crafting group has been using for over two years.

For the scarves, we use this easy pattern I designed...

For the fingerless gloves, we use this one. We are thinking of adding a row, when each glove is done, of SC's, or two rows, around the thumb opening, on some of them, for added warmth. I posted two other helpful posts about these here and here.

For our fave caps, we use this pattern. I also posted again about these, showing the way different scraps of leftovers can work with color combo's, here.

We had tried many patterns, and found these three to be the easiest and quickest. That makes a difference when you are turning out dozens a year, per person. Quick and simple - we like it like that. I hope you do, too.
