To-Do List vs It's-Done List

Every once in a while, my To-Do lists take over my life. They are on the fridge via magnets, on the kitchen table on top of a pile of bills, under my keyboard assuming I can't miss them peeking out from that well-used area, in my purse, other supposedly attention-grabbing places in my life.

Those are the times when I find myself switching from a To-Do list to an It's-Done list. I love these. I have a file in my "Home" folder on my hard drive, and I start one of these each year. Sometimes there are several entries a week, and other times, none for a month straight. But during the times when I need to switch, that's where I post.

Of course, sometimes, I scribble down my It's-Done items as I go about my daily life, on a scrap of paper, which I then move to that file.

This is one of those times. I made an entry last Friday, and another Saturday and there will be one today. On these lists, I record even the smallest of daily tasks (washed, peeled, and cubed cucumber for bowl in fridge; washed and folded two loads of wash; went for groceries, made four trips up steps and down to get them into the house, put them all away, downsized larger meat purchase into meal-size packs, etc.). Most folks do not realize how much standing, walking and just plain "doing" is done by them each day.

It is very, very satisfying to see the things I have managed to do each day, rather than feel disappointed because of the things I did not manage to do.

Dear God, thank you for all your help each day; I know I can always fill up an It's-Done list with your help.
