Strolling Through the Bible

About 20 years ago, I went through a spell where I managed to read the entire bible, three times through! That is an amazing feat, for me. Trouble is, no matter how often I read it, I always find something I'd either forgotten I read, or something I don't recall ever having read. It is an amazing collection and I need to do it again. During those trips, I constantly made notes in the back. I can no longer find that particular bible, and I hope I do one day. to read once more all my notes.

For now, I watched a crime drama on television early this week in which a character quoted part of a Psalm. It was a quote totally unfamiliar to me. That night, I pulled out my bible and decided to at least stroll through the Psalms. I've only read the 1st Psalm so far, but I am happy I decided to do this.

A while back, a friend, well, a cyber-friend, was moving through Proverbs and posting her feelings about each reading and about how it affected her view of her life. It was a wonderful series of posts. She since stopped and I truly wish she would start again. If not, I might have to start that myself, if I ever finish the Psalms.

Father, thank you for the wonderful collection of guidelines for living which are contained in the bible; guide me so I may gain something from each reading.
