The Girl or Boy in Each of Us

Today I received a special treat from an Etsy seller. She and I are in a Yahoo Craft group, plus we each have Etsy shops. Her link is http://mickidmw.blogspot.com and she is only now building up some inventory. But I fell in love with something so out of character for me that I am still amazed I sent for it. Among other things, she makes novelty tissue box covers. The one I ordered (see photo) is very girly for a woman about to be 70 in September.
Why did I do that? I guess inside every one of us who go about our daily lives taking care of our responsibilities and trying to be oh-so-grown-up, there is a child. I gave in on this and I’ll keep it on my bedroom dresser and I will definitely enjoy it. Micki’s workmanship is faultless.

Another Etsy friend, a new one, has been telling me about her recent addiction to little dolls and a home to put them in, which she built and furnished by herself. A fellow I know who is very street-wise and rather tough looking in his 50s becomes a little boy when chatting with his gray tabby cat.

I think that we each need to allow that child within us to dwell there. It keeps us young at heart and young at heart keeps us young in mind and on it goes...
