Watching Prayers Answered for Others

I’ve written about how hindsight helps me see how God has answered my prayers. Often I can see that waiting for his solution to a problem allowed him time to find the perfect answer.

I’ve seen it recently in the lives of two folks I know from the internet. In both cases, these ladies were being forced by outside circumstances to look for another place to live. In both cases, the first few places they sought did not go through. They were terribly scared, terribly worried, and near depression and hopelessness.

They were both ladies of faith. They managed to keep moving forward even when they couldn’t see where they were going. In both cases, knowing the date they had to “get out,” they started packing, moving along in the process, not having a clue where they were going. In both cases, the places they were living had become intolerable. In one case, because of a difficult relative; in the other case, partly because of difficult neighbors who spread stories. Still, they continued to look at home after home. They applied to landlord after landlord.

In both cases, they were down to the wire, the absolute last moment. At that moment, the “okay” came through. The homes they each moved to turned out to be wonderful for each of their households.

Yes, it was worrisome during the waiting and wondering. These two cases remind me of at least three times in my own life when that happened. In all these cases, it would have been easier on all of us if we could have just blindly, faithfully trusted our worries to Him. We did have faith. And though we came close, none despaired.

Having seen and being blessed with the ability to note these happenings, I am overjoyed to see how he watches over us. We might think he does not hear at the moment. I like to think of it as his needing time to put all the pieces in place, to pick out the perfect solution to each problem we have.

Holy Father, bless me, please, at all times, with the patience to relax while you are working on my behalf and putting all the pieces in place for me.
