There are many times I realize how fortunate I am. When I look around me, I see so much misery, heartache, and suffering in the lives of many that I know and love. I wish I could do more to help ease this pain for them. Prayer is all I have to offer in most cases.
Will my prayers help them? I might never know. But I must pray anyway. Prayer, as I’ve mentioned before, is hope. The human spirit rarely prays unless there is the hope that the prayer might be answered. I can’t always convince some of these folks that there is hope for improvement in their lives, but I at least know that I have hope, for them, on their behalf, every time I pray for them.
Many times, when life looked its saddest, when I thought there was no way out of a situation, I was surprised at how things worked out at the last minute. This is another reason I pray for them.
Thank you, Lord, for being there for us, for all of us, and for hearing my prayers for others when they are too upset to pray for themselves.
