Working with our hands (or, for the disabled, with whatever works for you) has got to be healthy for the spirit. When I have projects to work on, I am eager to find ways to take care of my obligations so I can find time for my crafts. It makes each day more worthwhile. Whether handcrafting is only a hobby, or whether it’s a part-time or full-time business, or even a little of both, most of us do it because we love to do it.
This love of handcrafting, to paraphrase the Willy Wonka song, “makes the world look and feel good.” There’s no doubt about how much we enjoy it. We enjoy the challenge of each new project. We enjoy the ease and routine of old favorites. And we enjoy the pleasure it brings to us and to others.
Dear God, thank you so much for this pleasure, and fill me with your love and grace so that I might always have this joy while here on earth.
