Starting My Holiday Gift Stash

This is the time of year when I seriously try to start my holiday gifts. I love giving handmade gifts. Not everyone is Christian, but I usually have a few ideas for Hanukah. Even for those of no particular faith, or whose faith I do not know, I can
always give a year-end thank-you gift for the past year.

My problem is that I usually give away the gifts as fast as I make them. Each year, the last couple weeks of the year, I promise myself I will start in January. Fat chance.

Some years, I decide the way to go is to make the same things for everyone. That doesn’t quite work out. I can’t give a guy a dishcloth or a crocheted flower pin. Other years, I make only small things, thinking I can make many more and build up my stash. That doesn’t work either because, again, as soon as I have a stash, it disappears.

I do have friends who manage to do that. Not me. Still, I’m happy I can still make my handmade gifts. Even if I never manage to get a big enough holiday gift stash as early as I wish, I am happy to be able to do what I can, when I can.

Thank you, Dear Lord, for the hands that can still make people happy with handmade gifts.
