Crafts - Finding Time

I’ve got a lot on my plate. It’s hard to find time for involved patterns or large projects. I have worked large projects, though, when they were the type that I could break down into small pieces. It’s amazing how much can be done, just a little at a time. The only trouble I have is that I hate “joining” pieces, so I try to find things that work up in one piece.

I have a lot of fun doing what I call quick-and-easies. These are favorite patterns that can be done in small chunks of time. It’s so easy today to find great patterns on the internet. I mostly crochet, but I often browse general craft sites like Craftbits for other projects.

My main goal for my handcrafted projects is to always have something on hand for unexpected thank-you’s, get well cheery gifts, birthday and anniversary gifts, and so on. I love being able to go to a box and “shop” for the right thing.

Quick-and-easy projects are ideal for my gift stash. If I can work a few rows or rounds over ten minutes or half an hour, that is great. Some of my favorites are projects I can finish in about fifteen minutes. Part of me would love to work a complicated pattern to the finish. For now, I am happy that I have the luxury of even the small chunks of time granted to me.

Thank you, God, for the moments of peace and joy you give me for my crafts.
