A month ago, I had serious doubts that I could write a different post every night on the Power of Prayer. Not only have I done that, but it has kept my mind on prayer more than ever. It is even easier for me now to slide little prayers into my busy day.
Deciding on a topic each night is a little difficult. Most of us pray for only one reason. We need God’s help. Very seldom do we pray in gratitude and thanks. This blog has given me a chance to focus, now and then, on the gratitude side of prayer. It has helped me see how much I have to be grateful for, and to be free in passing that thanks on to God.
By sharing my thoughts with you, I have also made them clearer to myself. I am making an effort to pray before things get too hot to handle, before I almost have to yell for his help. I’m praying oftener at the first sign of difficulty. And I’m praying oftener in advance of any trouble at all, for guidance, as a precaution.
This tendency toward more frequent prayer isn’t turning me into a zealot or a fanatic. It is all in the background. It just puts me in touch with the source of help that I too often ignore. Yes, there is definitely a benefit to doing this each night. I hope you’ll stay with me and I hope your own prayer life will open up a little, too.
Dear God, thank you for always being there, no matter what time of day or night, whenever I need you.
