I don’t know what you are working on these days, but here in Las Vegas, we are already into our 115 degree heat many days in my neighborhood. There is A/C, of course, but power costs are high and we keep the thermostat to 82. That’s not good for anything like a full size afghan, but it’s fine for little projects.
It’s close to July 4th, so I’m having fun with crochet items in red/white/blue cotton worsted. I had planned to build up my stock of gifts-in-a-hurry but these seem to be finding homes as quick as I make them. I’m doing coasters, kitchen scrubbies, dishcloths, towel toppers, potholders, and cozies for glasses, cans, and bottles. I really need to get started on a baby afghan for a friend who’s expecting in October, and a few exchanges and swaps that I am in.
Mostly, it is the little things that please me this time of year. It is just too hot to do anything too large, so my heart is really happy when I can thank someone with a set of coasters and matching kitchen items. Some of them act as though I’ve given them a million dollars. Those are the times that make me feel so good that I can make things with my hands.
Thank you, Lord, for these hands, and for the skills you have helped me to learn.
