Craft-y Game

I am on a subscriber list for the AARP online newsletter. I’ve noticed they have some games on their site, and I’ve tried a few, Sudoku, for one. This past week, I almost missed one I’d never noticed. It’s craft-related, and it’s called Yarnz.

Unfortunately, I found it to be a lot of fun. I say “unfortunately” because I did end up spending a little time there. In the game, you must flick balls of colored yarn onto a wall of yarn balls, breaking them up. I crochet, and I am clumsy with knitting needles, and since the game requires that I flick them off of a knitting needle, it must be why I cannot rack up a good score. Seriously, it is fun and it’s probably the first online game I’ve ever seen that is craft-related. Here’s the link: http://games.aarp.org/games/yarnz/yarnz.aspx

Online games are not my usual thing. They take me away from my caregiving tasks, and away from my craft projects, and I really do enjoy those craft projects. But this one was different, and I’ll go back from time to time. I wonder if there are any others out there - embroidery, knitting, pottery, weaving. I did a search and didn’t find any, but I didn’t spend much time on the search.

Enough with the games, my friends. Back to the real world and real yarn and real tools. Have fun.
