Update on Silkie

I don't think any of you realize how frightened I was this morning to take her to the Vet - I had asked for prayers day before yesterday but I don't think anyone saw that post. It's really hard for me to carry a dead-weight cat in a carrier while I'm trying to walk down 4 steps, 2 feet at a time on each step, while also holding onto the railing, cat screaming in fright and moving around in the carrier. I was so scared that I'd fall, maybe onto the carrier, hurting us both. Somehow, I got down, totally out of breath for a while from the fear and the strain on my knees and legs and the weight and the stress.

But she's there - I'll bring her home tomorrow. She has a severe skin infection, dermatitis, all around her nether regions. They shaved her, applied ointment, gave her an antibiotic shot that will last for 2 weeks. Her weight was finally down from 22 lbs. last July to 16 now, so they were able to also extract those 3 broken canines and left a bottom one which is healthy - apparently the tops help shape the mouth and the bottoms help control the tongue and other things. She'll need pain meds by eye dropper in mouth (that will be fun!) when she comes home. They found a small stone in the bladder so tomorrow I'll make sure to ask if I need to have that checked and how often. They did her nails. The stimulus funds covered it all, thank heaven...

I spent two hours vacuuming her two litter areas, sweeping the pantry, kitchen, back bath, dumping old litter boxes and filling new ones, shaking out her fave rag/scatter rugs, washed all her dishes. Should do more but I'm beat for a while. I hope to pick her up between 8 and 9 tomorrow.
Rolling along...
