Day of Odd Productivity

Well, I didn’t get all of what I planned to do done, but I did get some things done. Took out some hamburg and made patties on the little George Forman grill a friend gave me a few years ago. It’s an older style and the plates are not removable and I hate cleaning it but it does a great job on those burgers. Anyhow, I did those and froze them for future meals for me.

I also tossed together a super crock pot of chili. Ended up eating one serving for dinner, put one in the fridge for later this week, and froze 8 more for the future.

Took a shower, finished a small lapghan as a thank-you for a friend’s help, and watched some movies I saved on the DVR.

I cried myself silly a few times watching White Fang - I always do at that movie, no matter how often I watch it. I can only watch it every 5 years or so or else I wouldn’t have any tears left.

We had horrible winds last night, some reaching to 60 mph in the Las Vegas valley. I was out on my driveway at 9 pm in my sleep-shirt, trying to keep it from blowing over my head, and trying to hold down the recycle bins while I tossed in whatever I could to weigh them down. Other than that, I had no problems. We got lucky in my area. There were power outages all over the city but our community was fine that way. I always worry about some of my neighbors who live alone and who are on oxygen. When power goes out they’ve got to find their way to their tanks and switch from the electric concentrator to the manual tanks. So I always say a prayer for them and we got lucky last night.

I tried to cut off the newspaper as part of my cost-cutting efforts. It was supposed to stop on Friday morning. Saturday I got one and called in. They said I was definitely “stopped” and not to worry, I would not be billed. This morning I got one again. I enjoyed it especially today because I considered it a “freebie.”

Tomorrow I run over to a neighbor’s to begin doing some light typing and proofing and editing. We’ll see how it goes and whether I can do a good enough job for him. I have to realize I have slowed down a bit but hopefully not too much.

All in all, it was not a bad day.
