Free Prayer Sunday - The Urge to Complain

No matter how nice a person you are, there are times when you have an urge to complain. Sometimes it is justified, sometimes it is not.

Many times life throws something in my path that I do not like.  Most times, I can deal with it.  For those times when I start to feel sorry for myself or I feel overwhelmed, these words help keep me on track.

I'm marching through my self-published Busy Person's Prayer Book, front to back. This prayer is from the category, Hurting Others. Earlier, I already posted prayers from the Work category (about jobs, layoffs, etc.) and prayers from the Helping Others (homeless, terminally ill, etc.) category.

The Urge to Complain
Father, help me, please, when I am tempted
To whine, whimper, and complain
Help me resist the trap of self-pity
Strengthen me to move on again.

Please do not pass it around without giving credit to the author (me) and where it was published - a line like this will do:   by Evelyn Mayfield, in the Busy Person's Prayer Book. The book is available for download for less than $4.

I'll be posting the rest of the prayers in the Hurting Others category in the coming weeks:

Judging Others
When Someone Baits Me
