Another Charity Crafting Distribution Completed - Almost

Preemie Blankies
We haven't distributed any of our charity crafting projects since March. Needless to say, there were a LOT of things to distribute.

On the 16th, last Tuesday, I dropped off two totally stuffed Hefty lawn bags with things for the homeless (to a local center) plus two totally stuffed Hefty lawn bags for preemies and newborns (to a local hospital). That's four huge bags.

I have six more bags to distribute, hopefully early next week. They contain the shawls, lap covers and slippers we used to give to a local nursing home. Some of these places, and even a Vet's home, are no longer eager to get these. HEPA laws require regulation clean items and these handmade things do not make it through the industrial washers and dryers very well. We do have another outlet we are almost ready to deliver to and we think it will be a good match.

That said, here are our totals this month, already delivered or packed and almost out the door.

For the Homeless
24 Scarves
74 Hats
15 Fingerless Gloves

For preemies and newborn
80 Preemie Hats/Caps
61 Preemie/Newborn Blankies

For the sick and disabled
25 Shawls
49 Lap Throws
52 pr Crocheted Slippers

It is such a good feeling when we see the totals. The girls love it when I hand them a printed list of what we ended up making and accumulating. The totals surprised us because we had some glitches this summer. One gal had to go back east for family business and got stuck an extra month with major dental surgery. She had flown so she was limited in what she could make and bring back. Another went back for a family visit and ran into two family members with major medical issues that she needed to help with - her crafting time was limited. Another has been ill and is saddened by her own personal physical limits, strength and stamina. In spite of this, we feel we have done well.

We'll definitely make a small drop just before Christmas and we're working on things now, towards that goal. Yep, it sure is a good feeling.
