In Hospice Status Now...

Finally, all the paperwork is done and permissions granted, doctors have signed off. Betty is now in hospice status at the nursing home. A hospice team will train the home's staff in proper procedure to ensure that nothing is done to speed up her passing or that nothing is done to prevent it. The NG tube will be removed late today or tomorrow. My sister will either do a miraculous turn-around or the Lord will grant her peace. The process could take one to two weeks.

Either way, the tube will not be causing her pain any longer; meds will be freely available for pain; light oxygen will be available. Everything will be done to see to her comfort during this time.

Hospice workers will arrange for a Catholic priest to visit and administer the Rites of the Sick. That's a comfort to me - I wasn't sure who to contact for that.

Thank you all for your continued prayers. You have no idea what a comfort it has been.

Thank you all for being there.

Father, I trust you to take care of this child of yours, my sister, who loved you and who helped others to know you.
