I don’t know why I stayed away from thread crochet for so many years. I actually learned on that. My dear momma taught me to put lace edgings on handkerchiefs in the 1940s. I loved it. But my eyes were young and my hands were nimble. Most of my life, I worked with yarn. Lately, at 69, I’m rediscovering the lovely look of thread crochet.
What’s even more astounding is that I am enjoying it and I think I’m even good at it. My eyes might be tired, but they still work. For thread crochet, I do need to put my glasses on. For years, I only needed glasses for things that were far away. I could read the tiniest printing. This past 10 years, they have become sort of middle-of-the-road eyes. Now I need glasses to thread a needle. I need cataract surgery in a year or two. So, my eyes are not great any longer. Neither are my hands and fingers. Still, I manage to do rather good work. I have even managed to get my tension smooth in thread crochet.
It is interesting how life comes full circle. It is also interesting to see how our tastes and skills and interests change over a lifetime. I love it.
Thank you, Lord, for my eyes that still see and my fingers that still crochet.
