The Miracle of New Designs

There is a saying that there is “nothing new under the sun.” With all the crochet and knit (and quilt and pattern) designs I’ve seen in my 69 years on this earth, I am constantly amazed that, every day, new and newer designs appear. How do people think of them? Is the number of designs out there as infinite as the universe? I’m
beginning to think so.

I know of a woman who creates “hats” that she crochets, almost on the spot, to order, according to the buyer’s wishes. She has already, this year, created dozens of new designs.

Another woman I know designs doilies and other crocheted items as she works on them, not knowing what it will be until she is finished. She has designed a lot of these this year.

Another lady I know does wonders with her serger. She is currently on a “purse” rampage and designing purses in amazing numbers.

Even though there is nothing new under the sun, the variations of what is already here in mind-numbing. I love it and I am in awe of it, the power and majesty and beauty and creativity of the human mind.

Thank you, Dear God, for blessing these women, and all the designers out there, with the ability to give us designs for our use and our pleasure.
