I was thinking today about how often we try to mimic nature in our crafts. God did such wondrous work - his creatures naturally craft things more beautiful than any of us can do ourselves, and many of his creations are more exquisite than anything we could design with our finite minds. There is nothing as beautiful as a spider’s web, glittering with dewdrops; or a double rainbow arcing across the sky; or the pattern of a leopard or tiger’s pelt.
The shapes of leaves and flowers inspire our designs and patterns. So do the shapes of the fish of the sea, sand dunes, and graceful swans. We are blessed to have so many examples to draw from for our designs and patterns.
Father, thank you for your gifts which inspire us to imitate, to a small degree, the beauty you’ve created.
