It’s normal for me to think about praying for our pets. Not just mine, but for those I know and care about, friends and neighbors who have pets they love. Our neighbor lost his wife two weeks ago. Their two cats miss her something fierce. They used to sleep on the bed with her. They do not know what to make of this. Where has she gone?
The eldest cat, Lucky Grace, is old. Now she runs out every chance she gets, and she is not an outdoor cat. This last time, our neighbor tells me, she’s been gone over two days already. That’s not good. In our community, over 400 mobile homes, stray cats are a burden and residents are renting and setting out traps to catch the strays and take them to the shelters.
I’m worried about Lucky Grace. I hope she hasn’t been trapped. I hope she hasn’t been hit by a car or caught by a dog.
I figure that to God, all creatures are worthy of his love and his protection. So I figure I am not being silly or wasting my effort in praying for Lucky Grace.
Dear Father, you who love all creatures great and small, look out for this little one who lost her beloved caregiver, in all the ways she needs.
