In addition to this blog on crafts, I write one about the power of prayer. Yesterday, on that topic, I wrote about needing more time for the things I want to do with my life. Crafts are very important to me. Many times, I want to work on a project but I just do not have time. Or, at least, I don’t think I have the time. I need to take a page from my own book (the book of life).
Years ago, I had a friend who wanted to be a published, successful free lance writer. Raising her daughter herself took a lot of her time, as did her job. I shared with her how I managed to have written and published hundred of things: articles, verses, greeting cards, and more. I did this in bits and pieces. I carefully selected projects that could be done in short spurts of time. Within a short time, she had published greeting card verses and humorous verses, and was on her way to more ambitious projects.
Well, gee, Evie, why don’t you follow your own advice and do that with your crafting projects? Recently, I’ve begun to do just that. I’m making small items, but I’m making them with love and making them well. I’m making lots of them, and that really pleases and satisfies me. I’ve also accidentally begun making crocheted 12” squares. First, they were to give toward a charity afghan some folks on a group (The Gathering Room - see the sidebar on my blog page) were making. Then I realized I liked them and have started some for myself. I’ve been worried about joining them. I hate joining pieces. However, the group I’m with gave me all kinds of tips about that, and now I am really eager to tackle it. It’s been about two years since I last made an afghan, and that was done in strips to minimize joining. Now I am excited again, knowing I can find the time by just doing it in bits and pieces. Life is good.
Thank you, Lord, for every single moment in my life!
