When I first began this blog, half of the posts were going to be my thoughts about handcrafts, and the other half about prayers. Every night, I enter one post for each “label” or category. I’ve been unsure what to write because I’m unsure who my readers are, regarding crafts. My crafting tastes vary, though, and that at least keeps me going with ideas.
Tonight, I’m not at all sure what to write about. I just mentioned that my tastes are varied when it comes to handcrafts. It’s true. Because of that, I always have a few projects in the works. I’ve got them scattered all about, some in bags, some in recycled refrigerator containers, some in little buckets, and others in totes. Some are big projects; some are small. How do I decide which ones to work on each day?
Good question. My first priority is whether I have a deadline on one of the projects. Did I promise somebody something for later today, or later this week? If so, I tackle that first. Sometimes even that is not how I work. There are days when I feel everything that can go wrong, has gone wrong. Those days, I need something to console me, to help me get back on track, to take my mind off of the frantic, frenzied pace of life.
That’s when I grab one of my oldies-but-goodies, a favorite. It doesn’t even have to be an easy favorite. As long as when I pick it up, it’s familiar and even a bit of fun.
A recurrent theme in my Craft posts is that it is soothing and calming. This is just one more example of that truth.
Thank you, Lord, for a safe and sane way of calming myself down on frantic days.
