A friend from a Yahoo group that I joined, The Gathering Room (see link on main page), has me excited about scrap yarn balls. Right now, I’m using a lot of cotton worsted for scrubbies, coasters, potholders, glass cozies, and other things. When I have small lengths of yarn at the end of a ball or cone, I used to just stockpile them. Then I noticed the scrap yarn ball she posted on the home page of our group and it intrigued me (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/the_gathering_room).
It turns out she often uses that for scrubbies. I just made one tonight, using my scrap yarn ball. It’s great. I’ll post a photo on my photobucket tomorrow. All the little “nubs” will really scrub my pots and pans and dishes even better than before. I’m already hooked on these cotton worsted scrubbies, anyhow. This is an added bonus.
Now my mind is racing. I am thinking of doing this with a pattern for a back scrubber for the bath or shower. I think this would be great. She mentioned that to me, also, that it is good for exfoliating.
I love being able to find a use for those pieces, whether they’re two inches long or two feet long. They’ll at least be used now.
